I’ll admit it - I’m not the world’s best backcountry firestarter. I’ve spent more time lighting matches and watching them disappear into the bottom of my kindling pile than I have actually getting flames going.

The Sparkie Fire Starter dispatches with matches - which can be easily rendered useless by wind or rain - and instead creates a shower of sparks to light your tinder. It’s incredibly easy to use (you can even do it with one hand), and if you use some of the incuded Wetfire Tinder, you’ll be able to get a flame going in seconds.

Measuring just 2.3 inches long and weighing less than an ounce, this is a great addition to any backpacker’s gear. Use the built-in keyring and you probably won’t even notice you’re carrying it!
